Why a Cyrillic domain
A name for the Russian-speaking world
.РУС is a generic top-level domain, not a country code. It serves people and organisations anywhere who speak, write and do business in Russian.
No transliteration
The address reads the way it is spoken. Russian-speaking customers can type it and dictate it without spelling it out letter by letter.
Open to every country
Anyone can register a .РУС name: individuals and companies, residents of Russia and of any other country. Russian-speaking communities live all over the world, and the zone is not tied to any state.
Short names are still free
In older zones dictionary words are long gone and resold at a premium. In .РУС most short words can still be registered at the regular price.

How to get a domain
Three steps, ten minutes
The registry runs the zone, and domains are sold by accredited registrars. Choose one by price, language and payment method.
Pick a name
Type a name in Cyrillic in the field above. The site shows how the address will look and whether it meets the zone rules.
Choose a registrar
Check availability and order the domain at any accredited registrar. The registry does not sell domains directly and does not favour anyone.
Pay and connect
The domain works as soon as it is paid for. Connect a website or email the same way as with any other domain.

Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about a Cyrillic domain
The DNS only works with Latin characters, so a Cyrillic name is stored internally in Punycode: обувь.рус is written as xn--90ac8av0c.xn--p1acf. This is a technical form for servers, not for people.
All modern browsers show Cyrillic in the address bar. Punycode may appear in old email clients, in server logs and sometimes when a link is pasted into a messenger. The domain works the same way in both forms.
Yes. Email is configured as for any other domain: MX, SPF and DKIM records. Major email services send and receive mail for Cyrillic domains.
Be careful with the part before the @: Cyrillic local parts are not supported everywhere. A safe choice is a Latin local part on a Cyrillic domain, such as info@сайт.рус.
Yes. Both index Cyrillic domains and show them in Cyrillic in search results. For search engines .РУС is an ordinary top-level domain.
Anyone: individuals and legal entities, residents of Russia and of any other country. You need a registrar accredited for .РУС; the list of registrars includes companies serving customers worldwide.
Cyrillic letters а–я including ё, digits and hyphens. Mixing Cyrillic with Latin is not allowed. A name is 3 to 63 characters long and must start and end with a letter or digit. Full requirements are in the registration rules.
From 1 to 10 years, and it can be renewed any number of times. See how to renew a domain and what happens after it expires.
