How to renew a .РУС domain
A domain is renewed by the registrar that manages it. The registry does not accept renewal payments and never invoices domain holders.
Find your registrar
Look up your domain in WHOIS and check the «Registrar» line. The registrar's name is also in its emails and in your contract.
Renew in your account
Log in to the registrar's control panel and renew for the period you need. You can renew at any time before the registration expires.
Turn on auto-renewal
If your registrar offers it, turn on auto-renewal and make sure the email address it uses for notices is current.
What happens after a domain expires
- Expiry dateThe website and email on the domain may stop working: the registrar may suspend the domain.
- Post-expiry renewal periodYou can still renew with your registrar. How long this period lasts and what it costs depends on the registrar.
- RedemptionThe domain then enters a redemption period, usually 30 days. It can be restored only through the registrar and usually for an extra fee.
- ReleaseAfter that the domain is deleted and becomes available for anyone to register.

Can I renew with a different registrar?
Yes. You can transfer the domain to any accredited registrar, and the registration term is kept. Keep in mind:
- a transfer requires an authorisation code (AuthInfo or EPP code) issued by your current registrar;
- as a rule, a domain cannot be transferred within 60 days of registration or of a previous transfer;
- a domain in redemption must first be restored with the current registrar;
- it is better to transfer well in advance, not in the last days before expiry.

Rusnames Ltd may remind you that your domain is about to expire. In these emails we never ask you to pay for a domain, to follow a payment link or to share a password or authorisation code. Pay only your registrar, in its control panel.
